Thomas Mario Dematteo Sr.

Thomas DeMatteo Sr, 82, of Bayville, New Jersey, passed away on March 6, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born and raised in North Plainfield, New Jersey, Thomas was the son of Dante and Frances DeMatteo. In North Plainfield, he lived next door to his future wife, Patti McHugh DeMatteo, who passed away in 2009.

Along with his father Dante, Thomas built Dande Plastics, Inc. He was a tool and die maker and created many innovations in the custom plastic profile extrusion industry.

Thomas was an avid fisherman and golfer, spending many, many summers on the Rideau Lake in Perth, Ontario, Canada doing both. He was a Yankees fan, picking up the mantle for Patti when she passed. He also loved cooking, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

Thomas is survived by his children: Thomas Jr. and his wife Hollis of Norman, Oklahoma; and Michael and his wife, Kristine of Manalapan, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Amanda, Jack, and Tyler; and his domestic partner, Elizabeth Pratscher Goula of Bayville, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
