Sophie C Courter

Sophie C. Courter, 73 died Saturday February 27, 2016 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Sophie was born in Elizabeth and raised in Scotch Plains and Fanwood, before residing in North Plainfield for the last 49 years. Before retiring Sophie worked as an assistant manager at Green Brook Bowling Lanes Rt. 22 in Green Brook, NJ. Sophie is predeceased by her son the late Robert W. Courter in 1986, her parents Thomas and Anna Iaccarino, brother Harry Iaccarino 1974 and her triplet siblings Mary, Anna and John in 1956. Sophie is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Robert Courter. Her son Wayne Courter of North Plainfield, three brothers Thomas Iaccarino of South Plainfield, Allen Iaccarino of Staten Island and Edward Iaccarino of Pennsylvania, her sister Rose Trivigno of South Plainfield. Also surviving is her Goddaughter Brittney Hagan of Bound Brook and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1st, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Scarpa-Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, NJ and also Wednesday March 2nd, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Sophie’s name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001.
