Rosemarie Frances Zampella
September 17, 1933 - January 15, 2022
Rosemarie Zampella a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at RWJ University Hospital Somerset on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Born September 17, 1933 to Frank and Frances D’Amore. Rosemarie was raised in Bound Brook, NJ where she attended Saint Joseph RC elementary school and Bound Brook High School.
In 1952, she married the love of her life, Anthony Zampella. Having lived in Somerville and South Plainfield, they eventually settled in North Plainfield for 40 years. After her husband’s retirement they moved to Phillipsburg, NJ.
Rosemarie had been an active and long time member of the JJ Gardner USMC Detachment women’s auxiliary. She always had an interest in photography and was the official photographer for the Marine Corp League. She was also a talented and avid knitter who shared many of her creations with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, parents, stepmother Carmela, and brothers Sebastian and Nicholas D’Amore. Her stepsisters Rita French and Jean Iaccio also predeceased her.
Rosemarie is survived by her children Diane (James) Soriano of Somerville, Anthony, Jr. (Bess) of Plainfield, Douglas (Jeanette) of Viera FL, and Frances (Thomas) Clarke of Kingwood.
Grandchildren Meghan (Nick) Musumecci, Anthony Zampella III (Nicole), Kaitlyn (Jonathan) Price, Justine (Jonathan) Hickman, Michael (Lauren) Clarke, Allison (Ken) Clarke-Vaughn, Joseph Clarke, Jill (Michael) Mazewski, and Jackie (Jim) Tanner.
Great Grandchildren: Hailey, Lilliana and Noah Hickman; Dominick, Raffaella and Emiliano Clarke; Morgan and Wyatt Price; Axl and Ozzy Musumecci; Skyler Zampella; and Blake and Cory Tanner.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are by Scarpa-Las Rosas Funeral home, North Plainfield. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday May 12, 2022 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, located at 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807
