Peter S. Romeri – 88 died Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Kindred Hospital – Rahway. Mr. Romeri was born in Beaver Meadows, PA and after being honorably discharged from the Army as a Korean War Vet he moved to NJ. Peter lived in North Plainfield from 1964 – 2016. Mr. Romeri was the proprietor of the Grant Avenue Market for 32 years with his beloved late wife Maureen “Molly” Romeri. He was a longtime member of the North Plainfield Italian-American Men’s Club. Peter loved the Yankees and Cowboys, and enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was especially fond of going to Atlantic City, and truly enjoyed being around people. Peter was predeceased by his wife Maureen “Molly” Romeri (nee Tombasco) in 1992 and his brother Joseph of Allentown, PA in 2010. Surviving are his two sons, Gary and his wife Susan of South Plainfield and Richard of South Plainfield, and his brother Alfred of Brimley, Michigan. Also surviving are numerous cousins, several nieces and nephews and his dear companion of ten years, Louise. Services will start Saturday 9am from Scarpa-Las Rosas FH, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, followed by a 10am Mass at St. Luke’s RC Church in North Plainfield. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visiting hours are Friday March 24, from 2-4 and 7-9.
