Michael J Peterson of North Plainfield passed peacefully in his sleep on December 19,2024. From Plainfield, Mike, as he was referred to by many, settled in North Plainfield in 1992. A veteran of the United States Navy with service in the Vietnam conflict and aboard the USS Okinawa at the rank of E5. Enlisting in 1965 and completing his service in 1969. Mike was well known for his booming voice and larger than life personality. He truly lit up a room when he walked in. Mike was an avid boxing fan and traveled far and wide attending boxing matches, often with daughter Jacqueline in tow. He made sure they were in their seats from the very first bell of the evening to the last. No fight was too small. Known for his generosity, quick wit, and storytelling ability he will be missed by many. Mike is predeceased by his parents Theresa and Edward Joseph Peterson and brother Patrick Peterson. He leaves behind his wife of twenty-nine years, Nancy and Daughters Jacqueline T Peterson, Shelly Kirk and husband Sean, Cheryl Moyer and husband Brian, Robin Colletti, and Lisa Royer. Grandchildren Eddie Colletti and Haley Moyer, Great grandchildren Madelyn and Penelope Colletti as well as Siblings Richard Peterson and wife Fannie, Rosemary Delnero and husband William, Elaine Eberstadt, Joan Sellman, Sharon Peterson as well as many beloved Nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Oreo and Mikey.
