Michael Mazzetta, 92, of Plainfield, NJ, died Sunday, December 10th, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Michael was born and raised in Plainfield NJ. He is survived by his brother Sal Mazzetta and his loving nephews, nieces and extended family. Mike is predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Concetta Mazzetta, his brothers Gelardo, Frank, John, Joe, Albert, and Louis and his sisters Margie, Theresa, Fanny and Sadie.
Mike voluntarily joined the Army and received an Honorable Discharge on May 9, 1952. Michael Mazzetta was PVT-1OP of AUS Artillery at FARTC, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was decorated as a Marksman on March 18, 1952.
Michael Mazzetta (Mazet) was a kind and generous man. Michael was a hard worker. He worked for his brothers and nephews in their contracting businesses. He always worked diligently without ever complaining. Michael cared for family members who were less fortunate and less able than he was. Michael cared for others when those people were unable to care for themselves. Michael shared his home in Toms River with his nephew, Anthony Mazzetta, when Anthony became physically disabled and wasn’t able to care for himself.
Michael Mazzetta enjoyed eating home-made meals prepared by loving family members and neighbors. He always showed compassion and kindness to others.
Michael moved to the Edison NJ Veterans Home in 2015. The Menlo Park Veterans Home cared for Michael with consistent love and respect. The Veterans Home cared for Michael until he needed to receive care at JFK Memorial Hospital in early December 2023.
Michael’s final days were peaceful just like the wonderful man he always was.
