Joseph M. Valentino Jr., age 103, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the arms of his devoted family. He was born in Plainfield on March 11, 1921, to Joseph and Theresa Valentino. Joseph is predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine (2009), his brother Rudolph and sisters, Anna and Mary. He graduated from Plainfield High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was proud to call Plainfield home after returning from the war, ran a successful family grocery and butcher shop on Garfield Avenue. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and lifelong member of St. Bernard's Church. Joseph and Josephine are survived by their children Rudolph Valentino married to Debbie and Theresa Pellerano married to John, their six grandchildren Danielle, Roseanne, Joseph, David, Monique and Jonathan as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, October 24th from 4-8pm in Scarpa Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25th, 11am in St. Bernard's RCC, Plainfield.
Entombment will follow in in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, NJ
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org or the Kenilworth Veterans of Foreign Wars.
