Joseph Francis Tevlin

January 16, 1959 — June 26, 2024

Budd Lake

Joseph Francis Tevlin, 65, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of 38 years to Diane Tevlin (nee Piro). Dear brother Diane Menone (Andrew/2018), Gigi Tevlin-Moffat (Rick) Predeceased by his sister Jean Marie MacTye (2024) (Douglas).  Loving son-in-law of Doris Piro. Cherished brother-in-law of Donna Wilcox (William), Deborah Calabrese (Mario),  Richard Quandt (Annette), Timothy Quandt, Jennifer Quandt (Andrew Patykula). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY before moving and living the majority of his life in North Plainfield, NJ. He spoke three languages and was a proud graduate of North Plainfield High School. Playing high school soccer led to his love of Manchester United and AC Milan. A weekly routine during the fall was Joe sitting in his chair rooting for his Pittsburgh Steelers.

Joe started his working career at Sears Roebuck in Watchung, NJ where he met the love of his life, Diane Piro. He also worked part-time at Jukebox Eddie’s as a Bouncer. Even though he was a strong burly man he was a gentle giant at heart. Later in life he became an entrepreneur of a courier delivery service. This endeavor afforded Joe the opportunity to invest his time in the North Plainfield Lions Club for which he was Vice-President and other local organizations.

Joe could be found most mornings at the local greasy spoon Kibitzing with the regulars about local gossip. His dry wit and sarcasm will be sorely missed by all.

A longtime lover of music and sometime a band roadie, his love of music was just a part of Joe’s recall of bands, songs, and fun trivia facts.

Joe’s passion for travel included his favorite locations with friends and family to Sarasota, FL, and Hawaii. Joe was “foodie” at heart. He had a fine palette and appetite for culinary delights.

Most of all, during his lifetime he has made an impact on all who knew him and left us all with a trove of fond memories.
