Diane Elisabeth Hallock

Diane Elisabeth Hallock, 80, of Brick, met with her Lord and Savior on February 23rd, 2023, as a result of ongoing health issues. Diane was the eldest child born on October 11th, 1942 to her mother Eleanor H. Allen and her father, Alfred T. Allen. Diane and her younger brother, Alfred H. Allen, had many fond memories with their parents growing up in Plainfield, New Jersey.

After graduating from Plainfield High School in 1960, Diane’s first job was in the candy section of a department store.  Shortly after, she worked as a cashier at a local ShopRite. She married her beloved husband Frederick H. Hallock on July 3rd, 1965. They were a devoted, faithful couple to Jesus Christ and were very active members of Cedarcroft Bible Chapel in South Plainfield.  Their Massachusetts church home was First Baptist Church of Marblehead. Their Jersey Shore church home was Living Faith Bible Church. Diane and Fred were married for almost 49 years when he went to be with the Lord.

On April 30th, 1970, the Hallocks adopted their one and only child, Helen Elisabeth. Diane became a stay at home mom. She loved her daughter so much and wore her love for Helen on her sleeve. When her younger brother Al came home from serving in Vietnam for the Army, Diane and Fred proudly held Helen in their arms, awaiting his arrival. When Helen was in school, Diane would volunteer as a teacher's aid, just to be closer to Helen and watch her thrive at school. Diane often rented beach homes at Ocean Beach Unit 3 or Ocean Grove for Helen and her friends to have fun.  When Helen was high school age, Diane worked at King’s Daughter’s Day Care Center in Plainfield.

Diane has been a warrior since the beginning. When she was just 12 years old, she was diagnosed with Leukemia. She often visited the circus with her brother in between stays at the (Sloane Kettering) Memorial Hospital for Cancer in Manhattan, New York. Diane miraculously beat Leukemia, at such a young age. She even was referenced in a Reader’s Digest magazine for her being a miracle child.

Diane continued to rally and battle through her health issues. She was immensely tough, and devoted herself to living a fulfilled life under God. She was the most selfless person and always put others before herself. Diane always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. She lived for her grandchildren, her beloved Jacob, Adam, and Nadia, and would boast about them to anyone who would listen. She recently welcomed her first great-grandbaby Nalani in 2022. Diane was ecstatic that she was able to hold the title of great-grandmother. She and Nalani developed such a devoted and affectionate relationship throughout this past year; the room lit up when they saw each other. We are immensely grateful for their loving time together as great-grandmother and great-granddaughter, including Diane being able to attend the baby’s first birthday party.

Diane is predeceased by her parents, Alfred & Eleanor Allen, her husband, Frederick H. Hallock, and her grandson, Jacob Maid. She is survived by her brother Alfred H. Allen and his wife Joanne, her daughter Helen Elisabeth (Maid)Torres and her husband John, her grandchildren Adam and Nadia Elisabeth Maid, and her great-granddaughter Nalani Elisabeth. There will be a gravesite service at Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield on March 10 at 11am. Repast to follow at Living Faith Bible Church in Brick.
